It is my EXTREME delight to announce that The Urban Stitches Foundation is the recipient of a $5000 grant through The Sprout Fund!
Founded in 2001, The Sprout Fund supports innovative ideas that make the Pittsburgh community a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family. Sprout enriches the region’s vitality by engaging citizens, amplifying voices, supporting creativity and innovation, and cultivating connected communities.
Sprout is located in the Penn Avenue Arts District in the East End of Pittsburgh. Supported by major gifts from Pittsburgh’s leading regional foundations, Sprout has received funding from more than 100 foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and governmental entities as well as thousands of individuals over its ten years of community activities.
We are all so excited to be selected and this grant will make a huge impact on our plan to expand Urban Stitches from a school-based program to a community sewing program in Fall 2013.
We are also grateful to the Sprout Fund staff as well as the YWCA staff as this would not have been possible without their generous support and encouragement!
